Health Questions and Answers - Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen's Blog

This morning I found this article a little too late after realizing that Rob has, in the last two days, downed a 16 oz. bag of M&M's and about 6 sodas.  I haven't been craving sugar all that much lately, but I have a fairly low activity level at the moment so I know I need a read-up on ways to spare myself from going down the path of craving sugary snacks, which we all know is contributing to my weight gain.  This article helped.

Talking about Are You A Maniac?
Are you addicted to running marathons?

Do your thoughts switch to the next scheduled race immediately after finishing a marathon? Are you signed up for more than one race right now?

Do you know specifics about many of the marathons? Dates, courses, years run, etc.?

Do you know the story of how the marathon got started? Also why the course is 26.2 miles?Do you read books on marathons like Marathon and Beyond? Is www.marathonguide.com book marked on your computer?

Do you look at the race schedule more than once a week?Do you start to feel down when you haven't run a marathon in a while?

Are your closets and dressers filled with marathon t-shirts? Do you have so many marathon medals that you've run out of room on the hook they hang from?

When asked about your racing from none running people, do you find yourself talking with great passion to the point that the person that asked the question regrets ever asking?

Have you run marathons on back to back weekends? Or better yet back to back days?

Have you run a marathon as a training run? Or just to pace a friend?

When asked by loved ones what your plans are for the weekend, you feel guilty telling them your running another marathon so you tell them "it's only a half this weekend"?

Do you plan all your vacations around a marathon race? Well if you answered yes to any of these questions, you just may be a Marathon Maniac!!!

    see I told you!

I found this on Café Astrology today.  It's a report on 2008 outlook...

Those of you born November 13-17 and those with 20-24 degrees Scorpio Ascendant are experiencing a transiting square from Neptune. For you, there may be some confusion about your goals, or challenges in your close personal relationships, particularly involving family ties. You are more idealistic than usual when it comes to these relationships, which can cause a few problems if you‘re not careful. A noncommittal attitude in your personal life could leave people in your life feeling frustrated with you as you attempt to find yourself. There is a reason behind this "identity crisis"--you are learning to let go of ego attachments. Your self-image is being re-worked, and you are becoming more sensitive to a greater, perhaps more spiritual, sense of purpose. As Neptune's "fog" lifts next year, your self-confidence will increase many times over. During this cycle, you may find that you require more sleep than usual and that you are easily drained.

    Coachella

Coachella (weekend of April 29 and 30, 2006, in Indio CA) was pretty phenomenal I must say and next year I am going to invite everyone I know because there truly is something for everyone and Southern Californians who love music have got to be the best people in the world.  I thought that it was a totally unique blend of American and Southern Californian subculture, counterculture, lifestyle, fashion and music.  It was very refreshing.  Our condo along the PGA golf course was really nice and the folks who arranged for everyone to stay there cooked for us the entire weekend just because they love to cook. I had a great time getting to know them and I really hope that they’ll invite us back next year.  Ben, Marcy, Sarah and Mike were especially helpful, and it appears they’re true professionals at this Coachella stuff!  They also delightfully replaced our coffee and orange juice with margheritas for breakfast.

The suspects for Coachella this year were John, Michelle, Dena, Jeff, Michael and a new friend from Dallas named Steve.  Also, John’s friend Alex from Denver flew in just for this!  We partied together pretty hard and I would put this crew together again.   The show is a bit expensive, but this experience has taught me that with the right people and the right place to stay, this is a worthwhile experience and it is certainly on my calendar for next year.  Just getting to know the event and people watching were some of the highlights for me, let alone the great performance.  While I was there I got the feeling of peace and calm and togetherness, something you might have missed from rock festivals of the late 90’s.

I was so satisfied and wiped out from Saturday’s show that Jeff and I sold our tickets to one of the many deserving attendees (Sunday’s show was sold out) and headed home early.  I did not get sun burned and I did not see Madonna (she performed on the second day.)  My friends who did see her said that her show was a huge let down and that she came out on stage late.  The consensus so far that the best performance in the rock category was Depeche Mode and in the electronica category was Daft Punk (who wore robot costumes.) LA Times reported that the Orthodox Jew turned rap/reggae star Matisyahu captured the most spectators at the main stage.  I also enjoyed Carl Cox, Imogen Heap, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.  There are pictures from the show here:  http://www.calendarlive.com/events/ and click on Madonna’s face.
